1. About Testing Talks Conference
Testing Talks Conference is a community-driven software testing conference organised in Australia. Our mission is to bring together testing professionals to share knowledge, learn from one another, and strengthen our community.
2. Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff are required to comply with this Code of Conduct. Organisers will enforce these standards throughout the event, and we expect the full cooperation of all participants in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Testing Talks Conference is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), technology choices, or professional experience level.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Offensive verbal comments related to any protected characteristic
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Inappropriate photography or recording without consent
- Sustained disruption of talks, workshops, or other sessions
- Unwelcome sexual attention or inappropriate physical contact
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviours
Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate in any event venue, including talks, workshops, social events, social media, and other online channels associated with Testing Talks Conference.
Reporting: If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour, please report it immediately to any member of the organising team (identified by staff lanyards or badges). All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.
Consequences: Participants asked to cease any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Failure to do so may result in sanctions including, but not limited to, expulsion from the event without a refund, at the sole discretion of the organisers.
3. Ticket Terms
Refunds: Ticket refund requests must be submitted in writing to the organising team. Refunds are granted at the discretion of Testing Talks Conference and may be subject to an administrative fee. No refunds will be issued within 14 days of the event date.
Transfers: Tickets may be transferred to another attendee at no additional cost, provided the organising team is notified in writing prior to the event.
Event changes: Testing Talks Conference reserves the right to modify the event programme, including speakers, session times, and venue details. Where material changes occur, registered attendees will be notified promptly.
Cancellation by organisers: In the unlikely event that Testing Talks Conference is cancelled, ticket holders will receive a full refund. Testing Talks Conference shall not be liable for any ancillary costs incurred by attendees (including but not limited to travel, accommodation, and hospitality expenses).
4. Assumption of Risk
Attendance at Testing Talks Conference events is at your own risk. By attending, you acknowledge and agree that Testing Talks Conference, its organisers, partners, sponsors, subsidiaries, and parent companies shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or distress incurred in connection with the event, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, warranty, or right that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other applicable legislation.
5. Intellectual Property
Photography and videography: During Testing Talks Conference events, authorised media personnel may photograph or film attendees, individually or as part of a group. These images and recordings may be used for promotional, editorial, and archival purposes across Testing Talks Conference websites, social media channels, and marketing materials.
Consent: By attending the event, you grant Testing Talks Conference a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your likeness in photographs and video recordings taken at the event. This permission is incorporated into the conditions of entry.
Opt-out: If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please advise the relevant media personnel or a member of the organising team at the event. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.
Presentation content: All presentation slides, recordings, and supplementary materials remain the intellectual property of their respective authors unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6. Privacy & Personal Information
Testing Talks Conference is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Collection: We collect personal information (such as your name, email address, and professional details) for the purpose of event registration, communication, and administration.
Sponsor data sharing: Your personal details will only be shared with sponsors or partners if you voluntarily participate in sponsor-related activities (such as prize draws, survey games, or competitions) that expressly require data sharing. Participation in these activities is entirely optional.
Use and disclosure: We will not sell your personal information to third parties. Your data may be used to send event-related communications, including information about future Testing Talks Conference events. You may unsubscribe from these communications at any time.
Access and correction: You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information by contacting the organising team via our website.
7. Prizes & Giveaways
From time to time, Testing Talks Conference and its sponsors may offer prizes, giveaways, or promotional items at events. Unless otherwise stated, the following conditions apply:
- Prizes are available to Australian residents only
- Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or other alternatives
- Prize winners may be required to provide proof of identity and Australian residency
- Prizes are provided by sponsors and partners; Testing Talks Conference accepts no responsibility for the quality or suitability of prize items
8. General
Governing law: These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
Amendments: Testing Talks Conference reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. Material changes will be communicated via our website. Continued attendance at our events constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Entire agreement: These terms and conditions, together with any event-specific policies published on our website, constitute the entire agreement between you and Testing Talks Conference in relation to your attendance at our events.
